Mrs Mummypenny is an entirely independent facebook page set up by me to offer money saving and money making advice and quick tips. I have always been (slightly) obsessed with saving money all my life, even as a child I remember counting up my pennies and keenly watching my bank account grow. I love getting a deal and even more so I love getting free stuff. I post a different tip every day to keep my page fresh and exciting. I also write a blog so will send out a link to articles there. And I’m in the process of setting up a website.
Oh and one other thing of significance I am a qualified chartered management accountant (ACMA), and have spent the past 15 years of my career working for various companies in their finance/commercial departments (M&S, HSBC, Tesco, Threshers, EE).
My main aim is to keep it simple…I’m a busy mum so can’t be bothered to read tons of articles on how to save a bit of cash. I want a quick Facebook posting with a link that will keep my kids entertained and/or save me money. I get immense satisfaction when my friends/likers tell me they have saved money. And I don’t like websites that are packed full of information. Finances need to be explained in simple words and I can do this.
I am a busy mum of 3 so offer plenty of family friendly advice, but not only family friendly but also general money saving/making tips that apply to everyone. My advice runs from keeping the kids entertained for free to days out advice to basic finances like the best bank account or the best credit card. I earn no money from this page so am not swayed by any payment from companies. Of course I have personal favourites but will always try to stay neutral and encourage discussion if my members/likers do not agree.
I live in Hertfordshire so sometimes my daily tips focus on local activities. And I sometimes might recommend the businesses of my friends. Again I receive no payment for these. I am on maternity leave at the moment but am soon returning to work. I work in the digital world for a large telecomms company. Its going to be a challange, shall we say, being a mum, working (full time) and managing Mrs Mummypenny. If Karren Brady can do it…..so can I.
I aim to build this website, and social media and get 1000’s of hits, likes and followers. I’m so happy with the progression to date and look forward to seeing it grow and grow.
A few thank you’s to friends whom have helped out, namely Anita Muir, an amazing creative and strategic mind who has litrally been there since day 1. James Francis for helping with some of the more technical aspects. Phil Azevedo for much critique/advice positive and developmental. Becky Megson for inspiring me to write and have the courage to go ahead and do this. A friend for 25 years whom I love very much. And to my many advocates/friends who continue to like my postings and share my page. I couldn’t do it without you.
