Mrs Mummypenny Recommends – Business and Personal
I have various people who do many things to help me and the business world works by recommendations. Here is a shout out to everyone in celebration of three years as CEO and founder of Mrs Mummypenny Ltd.
Business People (not in any particular order!)
My accountant
Christian Elmes has been my accountant from the day I set up Mrs Mummypenny Ltd. I interviewed a few local guys and he was the best. A fellow ACMA with a strong entrepreneurial background and a good understanding of the business I has set up. He talks fast and gets to point quickly, and answers emails quickly.
He is also great value for my limited company accounts, a great accountant is essential in the world of business and will save you far more money than you pay him in fees. If you call him, tell him you heard about him from me;-)
My Bank
I started off with Barclays but soon fell out of love after high fees, not the best customer service and a pretty rubbish app. I now bank with Starling Bank and I love it. Here is a post I wrote all about my business bank account.
Its free, I can put money aside for tax, it tell me when I get paid (hurrah!!) and when I spend money (boo). I love it.
My Advisors & Mentors
I am not going to name these guys as they know who they are. But they have been so giving with advice and guidance over the past three years. A business will flourish if you have the right advice from fellow entrepreneurs and business folk. The business world talks and you will never know who knows who and who recommends who. I know I have landed work from their recommendations and negotiation advice. And have made many good decisions following their guidance. Thank you.
My Team
I employ freelancers to help me as and when needed. My assistant is the brilliant Kirsty, who lives many miles away who does so much for me. I also have a life coach/manager/agent/strategy expert, Andrew, who is helping me to strategise the future and scale up. The wonderful Kerrie helped me with products and sales funnels. I have people to call upon when technical things need to be fixed. Outsourcing is the way forward.
My Photographer
Mr Adam Trigg has taken all my family portraits and business profile pictures for the past eight years. Our most recent profile shoot was done at home, so I could quickly change up my outfits and get a ton of many different headshots for media purposes. Adam is an expert natural photographer who can get the most perfect shot. He specialises in wedding and theatre photography, but also does portrait as well. Very very good.
My Cleaner
A recent addition has been my wonderful cleaner Kat, whom does such a great job every week. She started in May and did a month of deep clean, we are talking blinds, window sills, ceilings, dusting everywhere. Very thorough. Once that was done it’s the weekly bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting. Mopping. I hate cleaning and the house was always a mess. This is a life saver.
My Personal Stuff
My personal training.
I have been going to see Kane for more than a year now and we have progressed so much in terms of body shape, strength and fitness. Dramatically different. He is very good at what he does and is the proud owner of No Bull Fitness.
My nutritional health.
I go to Helena Bingham for advice who knows everything. She knew how to sort out a colic baby who wouldn’t stop screaming (getting too much dairy from me via breast milk). She helped me with clean eating to help fix gallbladder. Digestive issues were an easy one to fix, and she even gave a regime for Dylan recovering from his ligament injury. Also, a wonderful yoga teacher and my 2017 yoga retreat was beautiful.
My mental health.
Well a lot of people help here. I have Heather who has helped me with hypnotherapy and weight loss. I have my friends (Becky, Lucy, Ade, Gem, Helen, Neil, Anita…to name a few) who regularly council me, normally involving wine. And now also have a professional counsellor. Bob, just to pick apart life stuff, grief, the past, ego, self-worth, the real me, plus much much more.
This is a life saver mentally as well as tidy house (ily)
Hair and nails
I need to get my hair done more regularly than I do! The hair is greying quite dramatically, and I am NOT going to embrace the grey. I am keeping my beautiful red colour, Stacey Barnaby has been my hairdresser for around 8 years. And she is fabulous. Now working from her beautiful salon in her home. My nails, Beauty by Genevieve, Gena does my nails. She is more of a lash expert, currently organising a huge lash conference. Gena has done my nails for around 6 years and is great. I struggle to find others as good as her.
My clothes
My wonderful friend Clare Wacey is a stylist and comes shopping with me to help me buy clothes. We did an uber H&M shop last year and she kitted me out with a wonderful capsule wardrobe. She is ace. She will shop where ever you want, expensive or cheaper brands. And can also de-clutter your wardrobe, she got rid of half my clothes.
A big celebration of the wonderful people in my life who make it a better and happier place. And help my business to run like clockwork.
