Monday Money #60 – John Lewis Welwyn Style Studio

Finally the summer holidays are here! I had one last week of lots of work, I always knew that June and July would be busy, maybe not quite this busy!

I knew that I just had to get though to the end of Wednesday and I could then relax a bit more, except for the last week of school for Dylan. There was so many end of school things, sports assembly (I cried for the special focus bit on Dylan and his Cambridge and district achievements), school prom and last day finish early with water fight. And I must not forget the sporting transition day where I took Dylan to his secondary school.

A very busy few days!

Dimsum

I dashed into London on Monday night to meet Natalie and Elena for dim sum. We have had it in the diary for months. A long overdue catch up on business life, blog life and home life. We chose Ping Pong on the South Bank mainly for the flowers and of course the beautiful dim sum.

We basically inhaled the roasted cauliflower, chicken skewers, ribs and pork buns. It was so good. And wonderful to catch up with the girls.

The south bank is so easy for me to now get to now that the Thameslink has extended. I can get the overground train straight to London Bridge or Blackfriars and it costs just £13 for a return train ticket using my Network railcard.

Podcast

This weeks podcast was an interview with my friend and fellow law of attraction practitioner Hollie Hutchinson of Thrifty Mum. We had the most wonderful discussion live over skype video on Facebook Live. It was actually one of my most listened to and watched episodes!

We spent some time talking about ideas on how to save cash over the summer holidays, nature walks, picnics, treasure hunts, visits to beach or lido. We also discussed what makes a good blogger, an interesting discussion, would love to hear your views.

Next on the conversation agenda was the law of attraction and what it means to both of us. We both manifest on a new moon, express gratitude constantly and surround ourselves only with positive influences. I knew it would be a great discussion.

Theatre & Buy A Gift

On Wed night my uni friends and I finally celebrated our March/April birthdays with the theatre and dinner. We booked dinner and stall tickets using a Buy-a-gift voucher deal. I think we paid around £60 each for this deal, pretty good value, especially for stalls tickets, and we indeed had a brilliant view in row C of Everybody is talking about Jamie.

Our intention was to get to the West End for 5:30 to have an early pizza dinner as the deal included three courses and a glass of wine. Alas only two of us made it to dinner and we only had time for wine and starters. We grabbed the rest of the food as takeaway and ran to the theatre for a 7:30 start.

I highly recommend this musical. Its not a big well known one, but its brilliant. The story line is brilliant, very sad in places, uplifting in others. And there are drag queens, one of the best shows that I have ever seen. And I have seen a few in my time.

John Lewis New Style Studio

I was invited to an exciting launch event at John Lewis Welwyn this week. The style studio is now officially open and a small group of local bloggers were invited along for a style session with macaroons and prosecco.

Amanda took us through the outfit choices for the summer, and showed some beautiful capsule options and dresses. You can book in for a FREE two hour consultation to help you with a special outfit, or a return to work wardrobe or a seasons change wardrobe. A new wardrobe for any reason.

Val from John Lewis kindly gifted us some John Lewis goodies as well. I love the necklace! The purple gin I bought. I needed a holiday treat. And the colour was too tempting not to buy!

Last minute holiday

As of this week we are on holiday, hence the need for the purple gin. I booked a very last minute Air BnB in Norfolk, in a beautiful cottage by the sea for £450! Bargain. Just a two hour drive from home and we have a harbour for crabbing and a beautiful beach for swimming and beach games.

I am writing from the cottage as we left very early and got here for lunch. We spent the afternoon on the beach playing games and chilling. Next on the relaxed agenda was fish n chips for dinner, a perfect accompaniment to my purple gin,

We stay here until Thursday and then return home to go straight to Standon Calling on Friday. Its a great start to the summer holidays.
