Child Free Time & Standon Calling
Last week was the first week of the summer holidays for us in England. The sun was out and blazing all week, it was the hottest week of the year by far. The in-laws had the boys for three days giving me much needed child free time and a chance to get lots of work done. And a few lie-ins = bliss.
Day trip to Suffolk
Our first trip out was to Suffolk to visit fellow blogger Faith of Much More With Less, here is her recent post on how NOT to make strawberry jam! It was a 34 degree day, so most of it was spent under an umbrella in the garden. Faith has the most beautiful house. It is the type of house I used to draw when I was little girl. The boys loved it and made friends with Faith’s children within 60 seconds of arriving, bonding over a guitar, keyboard, trampoline and a new house and gardens to explore. Faith and I were left to chat for three hours hardly bothered by the five children, a very rare occurance!!
The boys were dropped off to the in-laws in Essex sort of on the way home, and I was officially child free for three whole days.
A day working from Hitchin
Tuesday saw me head over to Hitchin for coffee with Megan Proops whom is going to be writing a series of pieces of content for me on Mrs Mummypenny. She lives in Barcelona and wrote this post for me recently. She has not long graduated from Cambridge university with a degree in linguistics. We came up with a great list of content that Megan can write about. A 22 year old has a very different perspective to a 41 year old on all things healthy wealth, body and mind!
I spent the rest of the day in Hitchin. I had my nails done and made them festival and holiday ready at the nail bar in the main cobbled Hitchin square. Beautiful coloured nails with glitter, costing just £25. Bargain. I had a little browse around Harvest Moon the crystal shop on Sun Street. This shop is difficult to resist and I found a beautiful green crystal wand and a felt puffin in this visit. I holed myself up in Los Reyes tapas bar next to a socket to get lots of writing and emails done. They have a really good lunch menu with included a drink, 2 kebab skewers, salad and potatoes for £10. And it was very lovely.
Celebrating Rainier Cherries
I attended an event on Tuesday night in Borehamwood with Adventures in Fruit, Rainier Cherries and M&S. We got to eat the most delicious vegan buffet from Marcus Bean Chef, the food was so so good. Take a look! All of the dishes had cherries added in some way. The bread Marcus baked was amazing, and when it was dipped into oil with charcoal. A new taste sensation and it was so good. I do love a cherry and the Rainier cherries are every so good. They are from America and are only in season for six weeks only, available at M&S.
The Fascia Blaster Event and working at ME hotel
Thursday was another mega hot day and I headed into London early for a breakfast event at the ME hotel near Covent Garden. Breakfast meetings mean travelling into London before 10am and a more expensive train ticket. Alas it was worth it. The event was the UK launch of the fascia blaster with its inventor Ashley Black. I love learning about new products and understanding the science and this product gets results. It works on cellulite, stretch marks, loose skin. It is a revolution in America and is now coming to the UK. More info coming soon in a blog post. I was given a goodie bag packed full with the products and have taken before pictures. Lets see if I can get more tone and definition to my post three baby flabby tummy?

I took advantage of the beautiful hotel lobby and worked there for a few hours. It was a 34 degree day and the tube would have been like an oven so I elected to save my £2.90 and walked from Covent Garden to Kings Cross.
Getting ready for holidays
I have done some holiday shopping, mainly for the health type products that you need on holibobs. I did an interesting price comparison of Boots vrs Lloyds chemist and Aldi. Read more here for the results, there was a clear leader.
We are off on holiday soon, but have no idea where we are going. We are working on a project where someone else is researching and finding a perfect holiday for us, more details to come soon. I definitely need to get some Euros and sort out holiday insurance. I shared a post explaining the best places to get cheap Euros and travel insurance plus lots of other money saving tips for your summer holibobs.
Standon Calling Festival
And then on Friday we went off to Standon Calling for my regular festival hit. This is the third year running we have been and I really love it. This year we were around for all three days and got to see so many of the big acts. Paloma Faith and George Ezra were amazing. The Bootleg Beatles on Sunday afternoon were so good. We saw comedy, spent a lot of time in the wellness area, swam, zorbed (not me, the boys), ate my body weight in lush food and camped.
More info to come later this week when I write my review post, and I have lots of video content to share as well!! We had the best time ever, even when our tent collapsed! Spending wise we spent a small fortune on food, drink, spas, festival wear, but we were gifted our five tickets worth £500. All the camping gear we took was borrowed from out lovely neighbours Shelley and Adam or Aldi sent us goodies.
