Mrs Mummypenny Life is very busy at the moment in this hot weather. And I totally ran out of time on Monday to write Monday Money. So this week I write on Tuesday.
My book continues to take up a lot of my time, most of Monday was book stuff, but I should be able to relax for a while now, as FINALLY all the hard work is done. The book is with the printer.
I get a proof copy back this week to do a final check over and then I put in a big order of a few hundred books to fulfil pre-orders that you wonderful readers and followers have placed. I can’t wait to get this book out to you! If you havn’t pre-ordered…WHY NOT?
Here is what Pete Matthew of Meaningful Money had to say, one of my first readers (and fellow Penzance current/ex habitant).
So many financial experts speak from a lofty position of supposedly having it all together. By contrast, Lynn speaks from the heart and from real, gritty experience. This book is crammed with actionable tips that will help you turn your financial life around – highly recommended!
Pre Order here!!
So what did I do last week to save money?! LOTS!
New Haircut
Finally, I have had my hair cut! I had to wait forever as my regular hair dresser is on a break and I had to wait for my wonderful friend Fran’s hubby Dan Spooner to give me an appointment. This was the week. Well worth the wait, my hair looks amazing. And he told me new information! My hair has a natural wave and is easy to dry into a beach wave using sea salt spray and bit of scrunching!!
Money saving all the way, I dyed my hair myself in the morning before my haircut, saving myself £40. The dye cost £4.50, Nutrisse Garnier permanant colour 2 for £9 in Boots/Superdrug. I have totally mastered the self-dye job, it’s very easy folks!!
Compare By Review Comparison Review [ad]
I messed up my travel insurance last year. I took out an annual policy that failed me when it came to making a Covid-19 claim. It wasn’t covered. I have been chatting to wonderful Lizzie from Compare By Review for a few months now about the new website and all that they are doing to guide people into making the right decisions about insurance.
They have a great website that give you important information about insurance companies, review info, Defaqto scores, trust pilot ratings and value for money. One should not choose insurance solely based on price. Lynn!! Lesson learned. read my post about travel insurance and how to choose wisely. Check out these stats from Compare By Review!
Pool Time
My pool pictures are often on Instastories, soz. This week I cleaned the pool for the 4th time of the summer and refilled with fresh water for the heat wave of mid August!
This was the ultimate bargain purchase, £70 for a 3 metre pool, with a bit of money on chemicals, and probably quite a bit of money on water (its 4000 litres).
New Nails
Total week of hard work, mixed with self care. Last week saw me have five days with my children at my ex-husbands so I had time to do what I wanted.
And this included me getting my nails done. I have gel nails done every 3-4 weeks at my local Knebworth nail bar. It costs £25 and I get 10% off every 3rd visit. This week was my 10% off week.
Pension Bee Spending Diary [ad]
Last week saw me publish the post Lockdown spending diary comparison to Faith Much More With Less Archer. We recorded all our spending from 15th June to 14th July. It was so interesting to compare a post Lockdown week to out previous diary, written just after Lockdown began.
An honest chat about the ups and downs of Lockdown life and what we learned. Hint, we both spent far more money in this comparison, compared to during, holidays, food, therapy. Watch the video chat here on YouTube.
Podcast Interviews with Cherry Woods & Georgie Catling
Two different interviews to share with two incredible business owners. First up is Cherry Woods, founder of Cherry Woods Skin Clinic, a victim of the government lockdown rules, she is a facial skincare specialise and as I wrote STILL cannot trade.
Georgie Catling is the founder of Yoni Oracle Cards, a business that I own the product from and adore. She is a light of life and this chat felt like an incredible therapy session.
Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy some money saving tips, and wonderful interviews and posts with my incredible business partners.

Good hairdressers use thermal protection for your hair before hot styling. Home hair care can also include this stage, if you take care of your strands, dry them with a hair dryer, straighten or curl with thermal appliances. Here https://wisebarber.com/ by the way, you can find a lot of useful tips about the best tools, as well as fashionable haircuts
